Stuck on a page? Turn that page!!!
Too many at times in life we let the challenges we face alongside people’s opinions, determine how far we go. Just because they are people you look up to doesn’t mean you have to remain tied to them when it’s obvious that they are straying you away from the path that God has called you to walk. I’ve seen this happen to so many young ladies severally and it doesn’t end too well. Nothing and absolutely no one’s voice should matter more than the voice of God in your life. So many people are still living in the shadow of their pasts, too afraid to move on to the path God has called them to. I wrote this for you. It’s a message for you. Please read until the end.
Too Afraid to Move Forward? – Why You Need to Turn that Page
If you are unsure of whether you are stuck on a page, here are a few pointers that indicate that you need to turn that page… You keep
- Making excuses for the ongoing abuse in your life because you are afraid you won’t find someone or something better, should you decide to leave.
- You smile on the outside but inside, you are deeply frustrated with the way things are turning out negatively in your life.
- Giving yourself reasons to stay back when you know that situation is dead already and you have to move forward.
- You are tied to your sin – the things you do that you know is displeasing to God.
- Letting your mistakes define you and you let the people in your life lord it over you as though they own you.
- You keep going back to your vomit when it’s obvious that God is leading you in the opposite direction.
I can go on and on and on giving you practical examples. We all have our different pasts, some uglier than others. However, when you choose to let that define your next big step, then you need to have a rethink. It isn’t fun living your life on the edge – wandering around so lost on the inside and doing everything you can on the outside to fit in. You need to turn that page!!!
Do You Know Jesus is waiting for You to Turn that Page?
There is absolutely nothing to be afraid of. There have been times in my life where I had to walk away from things I held dear to me. I didn’t walk away because I had clarity on what came next. No! I did that because even in my uncertainty and how much I had invested in that thing, I knew it was time to leave. Did I stall to buy more time? Of course, yes. But the danger of stalling is that the longer you stay, the harder it becomes for you to leave. You need to turn that page of your life and only you can do that.
I think it’s worth mentioning that walking away is a 2-sided thing. You can’t walk away from something deep without having something stronger to keep you from falling back. Let me explain that. Several years ago, I kept jumping in and out of relationships. It was more like my way of dealing with loss. But the final time, I can remember crying out to God to save me from myself. It was the beginning of a new year yet I felt so empty that early morning. I told God that if He’d change my life and deliver me from all the mess I had gotten myself into, I’d never go back. It didn’t happen in a flash but the way it happened I still can not explain it.
He took His time cleaning me up and putting me back piece by piece. All I had to do was ask, yield to His voice and He responded!!! I finally had the courage to turn that page on that new year’s day and since then it’s been a progressive process of growth.
You Need to Turn that Page!!!
Jesus is waiting. You’ve been on that page of your life for too long. Your comfort zone is a place where nothing ever grows and everything stays the same; where you’re stuck trying to correct the same sad scene of your mistakes over and over again. You can’t achieve this on your own. I tried one too many times and failed. But, I’m wiser and stronger only because I have Jesus leading me. It’s time to stop making excuses and turn that page; time to stop making decisions based on the advice of people who don’t have to live with the consequences. You are in the place you are today because you turned to your “friends” for help and not God. How many times has God tried pointing you in the opposite direction but you took the same direction anyway simply because it soothed your personal agenda and because your friends gave you the go ahead?
The truth is that regardless of how disobedient you’ve been, God still loves you all the same. You were created for His pleasure. His love for you can never change. See what He is saying to you;
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness… Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland…” [Jeremiah 31:3, Isaiah 43:18-19].
Lay your past before God as an offering and let Him give you a fresh start. Turn that page.
You may not see the results as soon as you’d like to see it but the truth is you will look back one day and be amazed how God turned your negative past into a glorious and beautiful future. Just take the step with Jesus today and trust that he will get you through this. Let him use your past as a means to show the world and all those criticizing you how much his glory resting upon you can transform you.
Choose to stop going back to find happiness in the same place you lost it. Make a decision with me today to stop riding that same sad merry-go-round of hurt, pain, tears and all other negative emotions that result from your toxic relationships. Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens and I will give you rest…” There is rest in Christ Jesus. All you have to do is believe He died to save you and surrender to Him. He paid in full already.
Don’t just stay empty and open when you come to Him. Go closer. Study His Word – the Bible. THat is the key to staying. It is the way to tell the association of negative thoughts that hold their daily meeting in your mind to shut up and get out. Just let go and trust God. He will do a new thing.
